Man arrested after cannabis farm found in Leicester

Hundreds of cannabis plants have been found in a property in Leicester.

The plants were discovered on Wednesday in a property on Pickwell Close in the New Parks area of the city.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

It is believed the growers were bypassing the electricity meter to grow the plants, which posed a serious fire risk to the property.

Leicestershire Police said an engineer was contacted and attended the property to resolve this.

A spokesman for Leicestershire Police said: “Officers executed a warrant at an address in Pickwell Close in Leicester just after 9.50am on January 9.”

“More than 100 suspected cannabis plants were recovered from the property.”

“A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. He has since been released under investigation.”
