Two people airlifted to hospital after ‘serious’ crash on London Road

Three people have been taken to hospital after a serious collision involving multiple vehicles this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on London Road at about 10:50am today. The accident happened on the junction with Knighton Road and Toller Road.

Two people have been airlifted to University Hospital Coventry with serious injuries and a third person has been taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue were also at the scene and had to extricate three people who were trapped inside a vehicle.


An investigation into the collision is currently underway and police have warned motorists to avoid the area as a number of roads remain closed around London Road.

A diversion is in place whilst Stoughton Road, Knighton Road, Avenue Road and Stoneygate Road junctions with London Road are closed.
