Amazon has over 2,000 Christmas jobs in Coalville

With Christmas just around the corner, internet retailer Amazon is looking for thousands of extra people to work over the busy festive period.

The internet giant has a number of sites across the UK and is looking to recruit 20,000 new staff across the country.

This includes people who can help pick, pack and ship orders from its recently opened warehouse in Coalville.

The new warehouse in North West Leicestershire created 500 jobs when it opened. It now needs an extra 2,000 staff to assist them with the run up to Christmas.

Pay for seasonal staff starts at £7.85 an hour.

The Coalville distribution centre is responsible for parcelling and processing orders for larger products like household appliances.

Nathan Fetherston, General Manager said: “Its a great site when you look at the transportation links that are here. It is centrally located, with easy transportation going north, south, east or west”.

The giant distribution centre runs clockwise with a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation which has been a major boost to the local economy.

The festive season is the companies busiest time of year with many customers finding it easier to order online.
