Amazon needs a 1,000 more staff in its Coalville distribution centre to cope with demand over the festive period.
The new warehouse in North West Leicestershire created 500 jobs when it opened. It now needs another 1,000 temporary staff to assist with the run up to Christmas.
The festive season is the companies busiest time of year with many customers finding it easier to order online.
The worlds largest online retailer already has a number of sites across the UK. The Coalville distribution centre is responsible for parcelling and processing orders for larger products like household appliances.
Nathan Fetherston, General Manager said: “Its a great site when you look at the transportation links that are here. It is centrally located, with easy transportation going north, south, east or west”.
The giant distribution centre runs clockwise with a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation which has been a major boost to the local economy.
