Armed men threaten and racially abuse people in Braunstone Gate

Police are appealing for information after a violent disorder incident in the city.

Officers responded to the incident at 1.30am on Saturday morning. A dark-coloured van mounted the pavement at Braunstone Gate. Three men inside the car then began to hurl abusive language to people standing outside a bar.

The van was later driven to an area outside another bar, where the men got out again. On this occasion the men were armed with weapons and were abusive towards staff and members of the public.

The men then left the scene in the van, which was later involved in a collision with another vehicle.

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old man on suspicion of affray, attempting to cause GBH and racial abuse.

Both suspects have since been released under investigation.

Officers are appealing for more information on the incident and are asking for witnesses to come forward.
