A man is in hospital with serious injuries following an assault in a Leicester street.
Police were called to the area of Moores Road, near Melton Road, in the early hour of this morning (Thursday 11 October) following a report that a man had been attacked.
The man, who is in his 30s, was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he currently remains.
A second man, who was also in his 30s, was also injured and was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary. He has since been discharged.
Initial reports suggest the man who suffered serious injuries was assaulted by a group of men. The men are described as Asian and aged between 18 to 21-years-old. Following the incident, they are believed to have left the scene running along Moores Road.
A scene preservation was in place in the area of Moores Road and Melton Road this morning as enquiries continue.
Sergeant Lindsey Booth said: “We are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and remain in the area this morning carrying out enquiries.”
“Two men have been injured in this incident, one suffering serious injuries, and we urge anyone with any information to contact police.”
