Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service have posted photos of two cars blocking one of their engine’s path in Leicestershire.
Both cars were parked illegally on a junction. Fortunately the fire crews were not on their way to an emergency at the time.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “Inconsiderate parking costs lives. Please share images like these with friends and family. Two inconsiderate people parking illegally on a junction.”
“If this was on blue lights, we would have needed to detour adding precious minutes to a time critical rescue.”
The fire service said that they do partner up with Leicestershire Police on “parking campaigns” and cars parked illegally such as these do get tickets.
However, due to a lack of resource to manage this regularly, the fire service is turning to social media to make people aware of this issue.
