A body found in the water at Leicester’s Freemans Common Lock has been identified.
Wojciech Wojciechowski, 45, was discovered in the lock, off Eastern Boulevard, at around 10am yesterday.
A post-mortem examination was carried out and his death is being treated as unexplained.
The investigation into how he died is continuing and officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen Wojciechowski in the 48 hours before he was discovered to come forward.
He was white with dark hair tied in a ponytail and had a full beard. He was wearing blue jeans, a green rugby style top with ‘Ireland’ written on the chest with a blue jumper over it. He had black and blue Nike trainers on.
Detective Inspector Tim Lindley said:
“We need to speak to anyone in the city who knew Wojciech. Do you know him? Did you see anyone matching his description in the days leading up to his body being discovered?
“Any information may be helpful to our investigation.”
