A man’s body was found in Leicester’s Victoria Park earlier today.
Police were called to the park shortly after 10:30am by East Midlands Ambulance Service, after the discovery of the body.
Police say the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
It’s believed the man was a member of Leicester’s homeless community, however this has not been confirmed by Police.
A post on social media said: “Just saw ambulances, police, tactical support team carrying what looked to be a body bag off Vicky Park.”
Another person responded: “Yes we found a homeless person on the side of a building, unfortunately it was too late for him.”
The person added: “I’m just very sad for that man. So cold and lonely. God knows for how many hours he’d been lying there unnoticed.”
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “Shortly after 10.30am today, police were called by the East Midlands Ambulance Service to Victoria Park, Leicester.”
“It was reported that the body of a man had been found in the park.”
“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
