Two people have been arrested after a bottle containing flammable liquid was thrown into a house, with the occupants inside.
The incident happened in the early hours of this morning, at a property in Stafford Avenue, in Melton Mowbray.
A 36-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man, both from the Melton area, remain in police custody on suspicion of arson.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue were called to the house at 1.45am this morning.
A bottle containing flammable liquid was thrown in the house, causing a fire and leaving a small amount of damage.
At the time of the incident two people were inside, but thankfully they were not injured.
Investigators had cordoned off a section of the residential street while forensic officers carried out an examination of the scene.
Detective Sergeant Fraser Macintosh said: “We are appealing for anyone who has any information that can help identify who is responsible to come forward.”
“If you were in the area at the time and saw anyone acting suspiciously please contact us.”
