Two Leicestershire towns are in the running to win the title of Britain’s best high street and win £10,000.
Hinckley and Market Harborough have been selected as finalists in The Great British High Street Competition 2016.
Both towns have been selected in the Market Town (large) category alongside Bridgnorth in Shropshire.
The organisers said they were bowled over by the quality and quantity of this year’s applications and getting down to the three finalists in each category was a real struggle.
As well as receiving a visit from an expert judging panel, including British Land, Post Office and Holland & Barrett, the public is being urged to vote for their favourite High Street.
Andrew Percy, the High Streets Minister, congratulated all the towns nominated. He said:
“Our high streets are the life and soul of towns, villages and cities across the country and the record number of competition entries this year is proof of their continued importance to local life.”
