A cannabis factory worth over £55,000 has been found inside a town centre flat in Leicestershire.
Over 300 plants were found in the flat in Market Street in Ashby, with 138 fully grown cannabis plants and about 200 immature plants.
Two men from the Ashby area, aged 29 and 43, have been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and remain in police custody.
The raid was carried out after Police received information about suspicious activity in the property.
PC Joel Tarplin, the investigating officer said: “This is by far one of the biggest seizures of cannabis we have had in the local area.”
“Enquiries are continuing into the find and the plants, some of which were bagged up and ready for distribution, are being removed from the property.”
“This action has resulted in drugs with an estimated street value of between £55,000 and £60,000 from not hitting the streets of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.”
“We will continue to carry out operations of this nature and would encourage anyone who has any suspicions about drugs misuse in their area to contact 101 or Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.”
