Police find cannabis farm in Leicester house whilst trying to stop a burglary

Police who attended a call to stop a burglary found a cannabis farm in a property in Leicester.

A call was received by officers in the early hours of Wednesday 19 February, by a concerned member of the public. They reported a burglary taking place at a property in Winchester Avenue, in the Westcotes area of the city.

When Police arrived at the scene, two men were seen running away. One suspect was apprehended by officers, while the other man managed to escape.

When officers went to investigate inside the property, they discovered a number of cannabis plants growing inside the house.

The plants have since been recovered from the house and Police are continuing with their enquires.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “Two men had been seen running from the property as officers arrived. A man, 23, was arrested nearby on suspicion of burglary. He has since been released under investigation. The second man was not located.”
