Hundreds of cannabis plants found in property in Leicester

Hundreds of cannabis plants have been discovered after police searched a property in Leicester.

The plants were discovered on Wednesday 12 September in a property of Abbey Lane in the city.

Police received a ‘tip off’ about the illegal operation and executed a warrant to search the property. Over 300 cannabis plants were discovered. These have been taken away to be destroyed.

Two men were arrested at the scene. Ezel Baja, 28 and Fatjon Bajri, 32, both of Abbey Drive in Leicester were charged with the production of a class B controlled drug.


The men appeared at Leicester Magistrates Court on Friday.

A spokesman for the Abbey Police Ward team posted on Twitter: “Officers conducted a warrant at an address on the Abbey Ward. Great result. Two persons arrested. Approximately 150 cannabis plants seized for destruction.”

“Thank you to local residents for your valuable intel.”

It was later discovered, the number of plants was actually double the initial estimate.
