Five people have been taken to hospital after a National Express coach crashed in Leicester in the early hours of this morning.
The accident, involving a coach and a car, happened shortly before 1.00am on Narborough Road.
Parts of the busy road was closed to traffic, along with roads near Fullhurst Avenue, whilst Police dealt with the incident.
Paramedics and fire and rescue crews attended the scene, after initial reports suggested one of the vehicles involved had hit a building. This was not the case.
Police confirmed there were 27 passengers traveling on the bus at the time of the collision.
The injured driver and passengers were taken to hospital.
National Express said uninjured passengers were transferred to an alternative vehicle to continue their journeys.
A spokesman for the coach company said: “We will work with all relevant authorities to investigate the incident alongside conducting our own internal investigations”.
