Woman cut out of car after collision closes road in Leicester city centre

Vaughan Way in Leicester is closed this morning after a two vehicle collision.

The crash happened outside the Highcross multi story car park and involved a car with four occupants and a truck.

Two fire engines from Eastern Fire Station attended the incident.

Fire crews had to extricate a woman from the car using Edraulic equipment. She has been taken to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.


Another male passenger has also been taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The incident has now been handed over to Leicestershire Police for further investigation.

A spokesman for Leicestershire Police said: “Vaughan Way, Leicester, is closed until further notice due to a road traffic collision. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Further updates to follow.”
