Five more patients with coronavirus have died at hospitals across Leicester, with the total number of deaths exceeding 300.
The five patients were aged between their 40s and 90s, taking the confirmed number of deaths to 310.
A spokesperson for University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust said: “Sadly, we can confirm that 310 patients being cared for at our hospitals, and who had tested positive for COVID-19, have died.”
“Five of those deaths has been announced today (16 May 2020). The ages of the patients range between those in their 40s to those in their 90s.”
“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the patient at this very difficult and distressing time.”
The total number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus in Leicestershire now stands at 1,915, according to the to Public Health England figures.
