A man has been seriously injured following a crash on the A5 in Hinckley on Monday (29 October).
Police were called to Watling Steet at around 2pm following reports of a collision between two cars. The accident occurred on the northbound carriageway of the A5, close to the M69 roundabout.
The vehicles involved were a white BMW M3 convertible and a white HGV lorry.
The driver of the BMW, a 28-year-old man, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
The driver of the lorry was not injured. The road was closed and was fully reopened at around 7.30pm.
Detective Constable Paul Bingham of the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is asking for anyone who saw the vehicles before the collision or witnessed the incident to contact him.
He said: “The incident happened opposite the Hinckley Island Hotel just before 2pm. Please get in touch if you were in the area at the time of the collision and have information or saw either of the vehicles before the incident took place.”
“Similarly, if you were travelling along this stretch of the A5 and have any dashcam footage of just prior to the collision or of the incident itself please come forward. It could prove helpful to our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 1288 Bingham on 101.
