Teenage cyclist in critical condition after collision with car in Leicester

A 17-year-old girl is fighting for her life after the bike she was riding collided with a car in Leicester.

The incident happened in Hallam Crescent East, near Braunstone Park in Leicester just after 4pm on Friday 6 April.

It involved a grey Ford Focus and the cyclist, who was wearing a bright multi-coloured jacket and blue jeans. She was riding a purple Raleigh bike.

The cyclist was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where she remains in a critical condition.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and are asking for the public to come forward if they saw the vehicle or the cyclist before the collision.

Detective Constable Seamus Burns, the investigating officer, said: “Were you travelling on Fosse Road South at 4.03pm on Friday 6 April? Did you see the collision?”

“If so, please call me on 101. I’d also like to hear from anyone who saw the car or cyclist prior to the collision occurring.”
