This year’s Diwali celebrations will feature a huge range of events for all the family to enjoy. The centrepiece will see the return of the spectacular 110-foot Ferris Wheel on the Golden Mile.
The celebrations will run from Friday 14 October to Sunday 6 November. It is one of the biggest events outside of India, with a record 37,000 people attending the Diwali lights switch-on last year, and a record 41,000 attending Diwali Day itself.
The lights switch-on event will be held at Cossington Street Recreation Ground on Sunday 16 October with the Diwali Day celebrations at the same venue on Sunday 30 October.
This year’s switch-on event will feature two new spectacular displays – Ocean Of Light, an evocative outdoor installation featuring thousands of lights suspended in space, and Colours of Radiance, a dazzling show using LED umbrellas to create moving rangolis.
Other attractions across the two-week festival include a new exhibition at New Walk Museum, a Mela Bazaar and a family day at the Curve theatre.
