Man in serious condition after gang enter Leicestershire pub with knives

A man is in a life-threatening condition after a gang armed with knives entered a pub over the weekend.

The incident happened on Wood Street in Earl Shilton at around 7pm on Saturday (11 July).

The group is believed to have threatened a man inside the pub. This led to a fight, which left one person with serious injuries and two others with minor injuries.

Three men were later tracked to Leicester Royal Infirmary, where they were arrested by armed Police.


A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “Shortly after 7pm today (11 July), Police received a number of calls after four men with knives had entered a public house in Wood Street, Earl Shilton.”

“Officers quickly attended the scene but the men had already left in a vehicle.”

“Following subsequent enquiries it is believed the group had entered the premises, threatened one of the occupants inside before a fight had occurred.”

“At around 7.45pm firearms officers located the men believed to match the description of those involved at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.”

“One man is currently in hospital in a life-threatening condition. Two other men injured in the incident were treated for minor injuries at the scene.”

“Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.”

“A scene preservation was in place at the premises in Earl Shilton while officers carried out their enquiries. It has since been removed.”
