Elderly couple punched and burgled in their home in Leicester Forest East

An elderly couple from Leicester Forest East were attacked and burgled by a group of 4-6 men who forced their way into their home.

The incident occurred on Swallow Close at around 6pm on Sunday 22 January.

The woman was punched and had her mobile phone smashed as she attempted to call the police and the elderly man was pushed over.

The property was ransacked and items of jewellery were taken along with a purse containing cash. Car keys to a silver Mercedes E250 were also stolen and the offenders left in this vehicle.

Paramedics were called and the couple were treated at the scene but did not need hospital treatment.

Detective Constable Ian Button said:

“This is a busy residential area and we want to hear from anyone who may have seen a group acting suspiciously or loitering in the area.”

He added: “It is likely that they travelled to the area in another vehicle not usually seen in the area. Did you see anything that raised your suspicions?”

Police have urged anyone with information that may help the investigation to call 101 and ask to speak to DC Ian Button.
