Live: Police close roads in Leicester following an explosion

Leicestershire Police are dealing with an incident in the Glen Parva area of the city this afternoon.

Leicester Road and Little Glen Road at the junction of Soar Valley Way has been closed, with traffic diverted and public transport forced to take alternative routes.

At about 3.25pm this afternoon, police had tweeted that they were dealing with an incident in Glen Parva and to expect delays.

Some time later officers confirmed that they were at a property in Leicester Road, following a report of what sounded like an explosion.

It appears an outbuilding to the rear of the address has been damaged in the incident. Investigations into the cause are in the early stages.

Two men have been taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. The nature of their injuries is not known at this time.
