Leicester’s Park and Ride services will be running additional services in December, making it easier for people to enjoy everything the city centre has to offer this Christmas.
The service makes it easier to get into the city centre, without having to worry about traffic or find parking. You can park up for free at the Meynell’s Gorse, Enderby or Birstall sites and catch a bus into the city.
The service usually operates from 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday, with buses running every 15 minutes. The extra services will be running on all five Sundays in December – including Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve – as well as on Boxing Day (between 10am to 5.30pm).
With return fares to the city centre costing just £4 per car (up to five people), it provides an easy and cost-effective way to get into Leicester.
Cllr Pam Posnett, Leicestershire County Council cabinet member for passenger transport, said: “Leicester Park and Ride services are the perfect way to travel into the city centre to make the most of the festive season.”
“Whether it’s for a shopping trip, a day out with the family, visiting the Big Wheel and ice rink in Jubilee Square or just relaxing with friends, the extra services throughout December will make it easier.”
“I would encourage everyone planning trips into the city centre to leave their cars at one of our three Park and Ride sites and take the bus instead.”
The normal service timetable resumes on Tuesday 2 January. More details of the additional services, festive timetables and fares are available here
