Man killed in fatal collision on A46 in Leicestershire

A man has died following a fatal collision on the A46, near the Hobby Horse roundabout in Leicestershire.

The collision happened at around 11.40pm last night (Thursday 27 September). The incident involved two vehicles, a black Volkswagen Golf and a silver Toyota Yaris.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 33-year-old man, subsequently died at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment. She has since been discharged.

The A46 southbound was closed between Cossington and the Hobby Horse roundabout for almost nine hours, to allow for an investigation of the scene. The road has since reopened this morning.

A police spokesman said: “The circumstances surrounding the collision are in the early stages and officers would like to speak to anyone who was in the area and witnessed the collision.”

Anyone with a dashcam who may have captured the incident is also encouraged to get in touch.
