17-year-old in critical condition after fight breaks out in Loughborough Street

A teenager is fighting for his life after a fight broke out in Radmoor Road, Loughborough, yesterday afternoon.

Five people were arrested after officers were called to the street just after 1.20pm yesterday, following a report of a large fight.

Four men – a 20-year-old, a 19-year-old, and two 18-year-olds – and a boy, aged 16, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody.

A 17-year-old youth was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he remains in a serious, critical condition.

Radmoor Road was closed throughout the afternoon and evening last night to allow officers to carry out their enquiries. It has since reopened to pedestrians and traffic.

Detective Inspector Mark Parish said: “This fight in the street has left one young man in a serious condition in hospital and I’d like to hear from anyone who may have information about why this happened.”

“Were you in the area of Radmoor Road just before 1.20pm yesterday, and saw anything that may have been happening in the run up to this fight? We know from enquiries that there were a lot of people in the area at the time. Officers have spoken to many of them, so if you’ve come forward already, thank you.”
