Fight between two women drivers in Leicester leaves man in hospital

A man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries and a woman was injured after an argument erupted in a Leicester street.

The incident happened at around 7pm on Saturday (20 July) and is believed to have been as a result of an argument between two women drivers.

The women were both driving along East Park Road and then arrived at Devana Road. It is here the occupants of the vehicles, along with other people who were nearby, became involved in a verbal and physical argument.

During the incident a 28-year-old man suffered an injury to his head and is currently in hospital. His condition is described as serious but stable.

A 44-year-old woman was also injured during the incident. She suffered minor injuries and was discharged after receiving hospital treatment.

No weapons are believed to have been used or seen during the fight.

Two men, aged 19 and 27, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and are currently in Police custody.

Detective Sergeant Fraser Macintosh said: “This incident is believed to have started because of a minor verbal argument between two women and has ended with two people suffering physical injuries – one of which is currently in a serious condition in hospital.”

“During initial enquiries with people at the scene it is believed there were many people who may have witnessed exactly what happened and some people may have recorded some of the incident on their phone.”

“If you are one of these people and you have not yet spoken to Police – please come forward. Information and evidence you have may be able to help with our investigation.”
