A £150m extension to the retail area next to Fosse Park has been approved by Blaby District Council. The Castle Acres Shopping Park will include a range of new shops, restaurants and cafes next to Fosse Park.
The council’s planning committee approved the application after an 18-month consultation process.
The project is being developed by Next and Everards Brewery, two of the areas best known employers, who will work with the owners of Fosse Park to build the new retail development.
The new shopping Park will meet the demand for more high-quality retail space, create around 1,000 full time equivalent jobs and provide greater choice for shoppers.
Retailers who have already confirmed that they will be opening new stores include Next and TK Maxx.
A pedestrian link will connect the new site and Fosse Park, allowing shoppers to move easily between the two developments.
Fosse Park is already one of the largest out-of-town retails parks, attracting 8 million customers each year. The planned extension will make this area one the most popular places to shop in the country.
