Four cut free from cars after multi-vehicle crash in Leicestershire

Four people had to be cut free from their cars after a four vehicle crash in Oakham this morning.

The incident took place on Burley Park Way at about 11am this morning. Emergency response teams from Oakham and Melton Fire stations were quickly on scene, as well as an Air Ambulance.

Fire crews confirmed that two vehicles were primarily involved in the collision, with two secondary cars then involved as a result of the initial accident.

A spokesman for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue said: “A total of four occupants were confirmed as being trapped within the two cars initially involved in the accident, with two casualties in each of the cars. One Male and one Female in each.”

“All four casualties have been extricated using specialist cutting equipment and are now in the care of East Midlands Ambulance service and Air Ambulance personnel and will be conveyed to Hospital.”

All four cars involved have been made safe by the Fire Service.

Burleys Park way remains closed until recovery of the vehicles has been carried out.
