Police have launched an investigation after cannabis plants were found in a loft fire at a property in Leicester.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue were called to the blaze in Peverel Road, Braunstone at 5.15pm on Monday 28 May.
A concerned passer by stopped to raise the alarm after he could see smoke coming from the roof of the family home.
A cordon around the area was put up while firefighters brought the fire under control.
As they tackled the blaze, firefighters found a number of cannabis plants and cultivation equipment in the loft of the house.
Police have arrested a 38-year-old woman on suspicion of growing cannabis. She has since been released from police custody pending further investigation.
No one was injured in the incident.
Police have often warned that buildings cultivating cannabis can pose a danger to its inhabitants and neighbouring properties, as growers usually tamper with the electric supply to bypass the mains and the equipment used to grow the plants.
