Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be visiting Leicestershire today, in their first visit to the county together.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend the Coach Core Awards at Loughborough University.
The Coach Core is an apprenticeship programme that helps young people aged between 16 – 24 to build a career through a national sports coaching programme.
The day will include masterclasses from sports stars such as marathon runner Paula Radcliffe, British tennis ace Laura Robson and England netball player Eboni Beckford-Chamber.
During the day, more than 200 young Coach Core apprentices will take part in the full day of sports training and mentoring before an awards ceremony where Prince Harry will deliver a speech.
Their Royal Highnesses will also meet some of the apprentices as they take part in drills and team games, before meeting this year’s graduates.
The Royals are strong advocates of harnessing the power of sport to change lives and empower young people. Coach Core was developed by The Royal Foundation in 2012 following on from the London Olympics.
The foundation provides young people with a training programme to become sports coaches, offering the tools necessary to gain employment, become involved in their community and have a positive influence on their friends and peers.
