Heavy rain causes flooding disruption in Leicestershire

Heavy rainfall across the county is causing some problems on the roads, with several flood alerts issued for Leicestershire.

Slash lane and Mountsorrel Lane in Sileby are both impassable and closed. 

Crow Mills and Newton Lane in Wigston remain closed due to flooding. Middleton Street in Aylestone is also closed.

In Medbourne, the brook has overflowed onto Hallaton Road, with drivers advised not to try and drive through it.

Police have also advised that there is some flooding on the road between Narborough and Littlethorpe on Station Road, on the junction with Riverside. The road is currently passable with care.

The A6 at Hathern was closed last night due to flooding. Drivers were advised to find an alternative route until further notice.

Environment Agency flood alerts are also in place for parts of the River Soar, River Trent, River Wreake, River Sence and Rothley Brook.
