Tories lose Hinckley and Bosworth Council but retain Melton and North West Leicestershire

The Conservatives have lost control of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council.

The Liberal Democrats are now the largest party, having won 21 of 34 seats, with the Conservatives second on 11, having lost 10 seats.

This means the Lib Dem’s have regained control of Hinckley and Bosworth Council for the first time in four years.

The Conservatives remain in control of Melton Mowbray Borough Council and North West Leicestershire District Council, despite losing seats in both boroughs.

In North West Leicestershire, their majority was reduced to two after the Lib Dems added three seats, the Green Party gained one and a third independent was elected.

The Conservatives remain in control of Melton Mowbray Borough Council, where independent councillors now have five seats.
