Part of Evington Road was cordoned off this morning following the discovery of a man lying unconscious on the pavement.
Ambulance Services were called just after 7am this morning to find the man lying unconscious outside the Co-op Store near the junction with Kedlestone Road.
The man who was in his forties was alive when paramedics arrived, but sadly died at the scene. Police were then called to the scene by the paramedics.
The man is believed to be a local homeless man.
Detectives have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his unexplained death. They are in the early stages of their enquiries.
Forensic teams were at the scene this morning examining the immediate area where the man was found.
Following the examination, Evington Road has now been fully reopened.
