Two arrested for human trafficking in Leicester

A 23-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man have been arrested as part of an investigation into allegations of human trafficking and unlicensed labour provision.

The two people were arrested at separate addresses in Leicester and four other Leicester addresses were also visited by officers during the early hours of Wednesday 7 September.

The operation was carried out by a number of agencies and assisted by officers from Leicestershire Police.

From the six properties visited, 24 people, 16 men and eight women of Eastern European origin, were removed and taken to a reception centre where they are assisting with enquiries.


The two suspects were detained in police custody and will be questioned today.
