Police searching for a missing Leicester man have released new images of him walking along a canal footpath.
Michal Zygan, who is originally from Poland, left his home in Hopefield Road at around 7.30am last Wednesday morning (25 July) on his way to work in Percy Street.
He was first reported missing by one of his housemates on Thursday evening (July 26). Extensive enquiries to locate Michal have proved disappointing and police would like to appeal to the public to come forward with information.
Police investigating his disappearance have spotted the 25-year-old on CCTV images walking through Bede Park, across Western Boulevard and heading towards the canal towpath at around 8.30am, an hour after leaving his home address.
Detectives are increasingly desperate to find Michal as the images show him walking in the opposite direction from where he works.
Leicestershire Police said: “This fact alone adds to our concern about him and deepens the mystery about what has happened to him.”
The CCTV images show Michal wearing the clothes he left home in an hour earlier – a black Reebok t-shirt, blue denim shorts and black trainers. He is also carrying a black-coloured Nike rucksack, and at times is seen carrying a water bottle.
The police spokesman added: “The cameras clearly show there were a number of people out and about in the area where Michal was seen last on Wednesday morning – and we need to trace these eye-witnesses as they may have important information about what happened to him.”
“Not only has Michal never been missing before – it is completely out of character for him not to arrive at work. These factors add to the concerns we have for him.”
If anyone has any information regarding this case, they are urged to contact Leicestershire Police on 101.
