The Met Office has issued a warning of snow for tonight and tomorrow for the East Midlands. Temperatures have already dwindled to single digits, with a minimum temperature of 0°C expected tonight.
The snow is due to a large band of cloud and rain pushing in from the West, colliding with cold air over the East Midlands.
Some further snowfall is possible during Wednesday morning. Although it will brighten up later in the day, it will still remain cold.
Leicester City Council deployed its gritting vehicles last night. This aims to keep the most important roads clear, including all main roads and bus routes.
The outlook is brighter for later in the week and the start of the weekend, although there could still be a frosty start in the mornings.
