Leicester doctors triumph in BBC’s ‘Britain’s Best Junior Doctors’ show

Three doctors from Leicester have triumphed after winning the BBC Two programme ‘Britain’s Best Junior Doctors’.

The junior doctors from University Hospitals of Leicester were up against another team of doctors from Kettering Hospital.

The BBC Two quiz show, presented by Joe Brand, was to commemorate the 70th anniversary celebrations of the NHS.

The three doctors, Will Manning, Jon O’Doherty and James Richmond answered difficult medical questions to beat the doctors from Kettering in the final of the show.

The quiz show is vey much like ‘University Challenge’, in which two teams of doctors, who have just completed their training, go up against each other from hospitals around the country.

The teams are given a real live patient with an actual condition, with only one minute to come up with a diagnosis.

There are also questions relating to ‘Which Ward?’, along with a scenario in ‘The Operating Theatre’ and even a ‘Rapid Response’ round too!

The doctors from Leicester won with a score of 19 points, compared to Kettering who only managed 5 points.
