Leicester Pride: Thousands march through the city with pride

Leicester Pride festival

Leicester Pride, the City’s annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) festival is underway today.

The event is free to attend and celebrates equality and diversity in our community. The family event has entertainment and attractions suitable for all ages and starts at 12 noon with a parade through the city centre leading to the festival site on Victoria Park.

The main stage features live singers, dance acts and cabaret from across the country whilst the DJ tent features the best local DJs. Previous acts include Sam Bailey, Blazing Squad, Lisa Lashes, Keiron Richardson, PJ Brennan, Diva Fever, Addict Dance, Miss Penny, Ms Marty, Thunderpussy and many more.

There is a variety of food and drink available and plenty to see and buy in the market stalls area. A selection of fair ground rides and games are also provided by Billy Bates & Sons fun fair.

Over 10,000 people are expected to attend the event with more than 2,000 taking part in the parade through the city.

The event has been running for a number of years and has grown from a small event based in the city to a full scale festival at Victoria Park.
