Two Leicester schools close after teacher tests positive for Covid-19

An Infant and Junior school has closed in Leicester, after being informed of further positive tests for Covid-19.

A teacher had tested positive for the virus on Monday and further cases were confirmed yesterday.

Humberstone Academy said that both their Infant and Junior academy will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

Parents were informed of the decision yesterday by an email from the executive head of the schools, Annemarie Williams.

In the email, Ms Williams said : “We apologise for the late notice but unfortunately we have been informed of further positive tests for Covid-19.”

“We have taken the decision to close both schools for the foreseeable future until we are able to seek further advice. We will send further updates as soon as possible.”

“We apologise for the inconvenience. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.”

Most primary schools reopened this week in Leicester, although the city council has confirmed that parents can choose whether to send their children to school or not.
