An investigation has been launched following the death of a man who is suspected of being assaulted.
Police received a report from a relative of a man, who was receiving treatment at the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.
The report alleged that the injured man was assaulted at an address in Tatlow Road, Leicester on Tuesday 22 January and was admitted to hospital on Thursday 24 January.
The man passed away in hospital last night (30 January).
The death is being treated as suspicious and a post mortem examination is due to take place.
A 50-year-old Leicester woman has been arrested in connection with the death and remains in police custody.
A scene preservation is currently in place on Tatlow Road while enquiries are being carried out at the scene.
Detective Inspector Jon Blockley said: “The investigation is in its early stages and detectives are working to establish the exact circumstances around the death.”
“Officers will be in the immediate area carrying out enquiries in connection with this incident and if anyone may have seen anything related to it or have information that could assist with our investigation, please get in touch with the police.”
