Visitors to the city centre are being advised of several road closures, as Leicester’s Riverside Festival gets underway this weekend.
The festival is a lively weekend of activities for the whole family and is spread across Bede Park, Mile Straight, Western Boulevard and Castle Gardens.
As Leicester’s biggest free festival, it features an array of activities on and off the water. Highlights on the river include colourful boats from across the region, canoe demonstrations and free boat trips.
On land, the festival continues to build its reputation for live music by showcasing some great bands and artists on the main stage.
And there’s plenty to entertain the whole family, including children’s activities, art and craft market, street entertainers and children’s funfair plus a variety of tempting food stalls.
The road closures come into force at midday today and will last until 7pm on Sunday.
The closures will affect Eastern Boulevard, Western Boulevard, Mill Lane, The Newarke, Grasmere Street and Tarragon Road. Diversions are in place.
The event will run from 12pm to 7pm today and from 12pm to 5pm on Sunday.
