Tories hold Blaby, Charnwood and Harborough councils; Lib Dems retain Oadby & Wigston

The Tories have held a number of key councils in Leicestershire, despite seeing a fall in the number of seats.

The Conservatives held on to Blaby District Council, despite losing four seats. They also held Charnwood Borough Council and Harborough District Council.

The Liberal Democrats held Oadby and Wigston Borough Council, where they gained five seats.

Earlier in the day, the Conservatives lost control of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council to the Lib Dems. This saw the Lib Dems take charge of the borough for the first time in four years.

The Tories also remained in control of Melton Mowbray Borough Council and North West Leicestershire District Council, but again saw their majority fall.
