M1 crash in Leicestershire causes four miles of queues

Two lanes of the M1 northbound carriageway have been closed due to a collision just before 6pm today.

The incident happened between J23 and J23a, near Shepshed. The collision occurred within the stretch of motorway where major roadworks are taking place.

Traffic Officers have arrived at the scene and temporarily stopped the traffic while they help the emergency services to deal with the accident.
