Traffic is building up on the M1 this morning, after a lorry shed it’s load of offal.
The incident happened at 2.30am this morning near J24 of the M1, close to East Midlands Airport. Two lanes are currently closed at the roundabout on J24.
Clean up work is underway. A spokesman for Highways England said: “Most material has been removed but the road surface isn’t currently safe for traffic. We are waiting for specialist contractors to assess the scene.”
The lanes are expected to remain closed until 10am. Drivers have been advised to take care on approach and allow extra time for their journeys.
