Heartbreaking footage of missing Leicestershire girl, Madeleine McCann, who vanished on holiday in Portugal has emerged.
The footage is part of a new documentary available on Netflix. which was made without the co-operation of the McCanns.
The mobile phone footage shows Madeleine climbing up stairs towards the plane with her backpack at East Midlands airport.
The McCanns were travelling to Portugal with Madeleine, her brother Sean, sister Amelie, and a group of friends.
Madeleine has now been missing for 12-years after she was snatched from her bed whilst her parents were dining at a nearby restaurant in their holiday complex in Praia Da Luz.
The investigation into her disappearance was one of the most high-profile in British history as Portuguese police and Scotland Yard worked together to try to find the child.
There are many theories of what happened to Madeleine, many suspects have been interviewed along with many witnesses to her disappearance, however, no one has ever been charged.
Gerry and Kate McCann have released a statement about the Netflix documentary, which reads: “The production company told us that they were making the documentary and asked us to participate.”
“We did not see – and still do not see – how this programme will help the search for Madeleine and, particularly given there is an active police investigation, it could potentially hinder it.”
“Consequently, our views and preferences are not reflected in the programme.”
“We will not be making any further statements or giving interviews regarding this programme.”
