Man arrested after crash near Fosse Park which killed two people

A man has been arrested after a fatal collision in which two people died and two were seriously injured in Leicester.

The collision happened on Friday (23 November) at about 11.45pm on Soar Valley Way, close to Fosse Park Shopping centre.

The crash involved a black BMW X5, which hit the central reservation. Two people, a 30-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other people were taken to hospital where they remain in a serious condition.

Detectives arrested a 25-year-old man over the weekend in connection with the incident. He has since been released pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Paul Bingham from the serious collision investigation unit said: “The investigation into the fatal collision and the circumstances leading up to it are continuing.”

“Thank you to everyone who has contacted us and assisted with our enquiries, however if you witnessed the collision or can help with our investigation and haven’t yet spoken to officers we would encourage you to do so.”
