Man in critical condition after crash on Leicester’s London Road

A man is in critical condition after a car and taxi crashed into each other on Leicester’s London Road.

The incident happened at around 5am on Saturday 14 July. The collision involved a white Audi A6 (the taxi) and a black Peugeot 208.

The driver in the Peugeot, believed to be in his 40s, suffered critical injuries and was taken to hospital.

A stretch of London Road where the collision occurred, was closed for eight hours as forensic specialists carried out an examination of the crash scene.

The two vehicles were then placed on recovery trucks and driven away.

The wreckage site was cleared by the council before the road was reopened at around 1pm.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw the accident, or the vehicles being driven beforehand, to contact them.
