Police have released CCTV images of three men they would like to identify and speak to after liquid was thrown at a man in the city, in which he lost his vision.
The incident happened at 9.30am, on Saturday 19 May, in Jarrom Street. A 20-year-old man was approached and a liquid was thrown in his face.
The victim sustained significant injuries and has not regained the sight in one of his eyes.
Detectives believe the liquid thrown is not acid based, however further tests are being carried out.
Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing and officers are urging the public to help identify the men in the images.
Detective Constable Chris Fox said: “The victim was discharged from hospital after a few days but he is still undergoing treatment as an outpatient. The prognosis is that he may regain the sight in his eye and is recovering well.”
“You can help us move this investigation forward by getting in touch if you recognise any of the men in the images. Even if you’re not 100% sure we would still ask that you get in touch.”
“The incident took place in broad daylight in a busy area of Leicester, not far from the Leicester Royal Infirmary hospital. If you witnessed it and haven’t yet spoken with officers please call us.”
