A man has been charged with sexual assault after he attacked a woman walking in Leicestershire.
Kyle Neal was arrested by officers in Loughborough the day after he carried out the attack on his victim.
The incident happened on the evening of 23 October in Trinity Street. The woman was walking in the area when she was grabbed by Neal who tried to drag her to the ground and sexually assaulted her.
The victim shouted out for help and struggled to get away before her attacker then ran away from the scene.
Neal was arrested the next day after officers began patrolling the area and received information the defendant had been seen in the vicinity.
Officers were quick to locate the 22-year-old, who was arrested in nearby Moira Street. He was questioned by detectives and then charged with sexual assault.
Neal appeared at Leicester Crown Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to the offence. He has been remanded into custody and will be sentenced tomorrow.
Detective Constable Tony Harman said: “Through the bravery and co-operation of the victim and the work of local officers in the area, we were able to provide justice for the victim and bring the person responsible for this horrendous attack to court.”
“I thank the victim for her trust in us and hope today helps her in some way as she moves on.”
“I urge anyone who is the victim of a sexual assault to report it to police. We will act on your report and work to obtain justice for you. We also have specially trained officers who will provide support to you throughout the investigation and at court.”
